To all ye doubters...

To my mind, print book is to ebook as record album is to mp3 files. Purists complain about the loss of the physicality of the object, but damn, it sure is handy to squash lots of books/music into a sleek, portable gadget!

Several years ago I flew with a cd player and a wallet of cds. I sat next to someone with one of those newfangled digital players, and I felt like an overburdened dinosaur.

I haven't used a Kindle (or Twitter for that matter, and I'm much more dubious on that front), but I am positive it has its place!
[this is good]
I think the Kindle is cool, but I check out pretty much everything I read from the library so I can't justify the expense. I know people who have and love them though.

I'm one of those "I like the physical book" people, and I also like being able to see what other people are reading. With a Kindle I can't judge you by what you're reading, and that's no fun. =P
Give it time. They'll bring out a kindle with two opposing e-ink screens with a hinge switch... you "close & open" to turn the page, put a nice cover on it, and you've got your physicality again.
i am VERY anti-Amazon, i sure wish you'd wean yourself off of them.

on the Kindle front, okay, whatever, for physicality you can get an awesome Oberon Designs cover: http://www.oberondesign.com/store/kindle.php

on the Kindle front, NOT okay, they demand 70% of the profit from all the titles they carry, from the publisher. which means that the artist/author is getting their "share" from the 30% remaining. Nice. They're fucking bloodthieves.
