Neil Gaiman raved about it on his blog, so of course I immediately bought it.
Pirate songs!! Compiled by Johnny Depp, apparently. Or something. It's a bunch of different artists, including Sting, Lou Reed, and Rufus Wainwright. It is GLORIOUS. My iPod is v. happy. (I bought mine from iTunes, where it is $19.95. This link will take you to Amazon.com, where it is only $14.98. I figure the extra is worth it for the immediate gratification.)
Go buy it!! *enable enable enable!*Peoria is home of lots of good music. I'm absolutely clueless as to what is available, too, so I'm sorta on a trek to discover what's available. There seems to be a lot of jazz, a lot of blues... but then there's also musicians like Erin Ivey, whose "flavor of folk rock has been described as organic, evocative, and sensuous". She's even got a website! Looks like she's giving a few performances soon at Kelleher's and Sullivan's... might just have to gather up some friends and give her a listen...
